With details just as if you were there.
Let say that the blue team is on offense and the white is on defense
The game is about to start. The captains of the blue and the white gather to decide who will get the ball first. The main umpire (there are 7 referees!) flip a coin in the air and the visiting team (white) calls "head". The coin falls back down and gives "tail". The blue has the choice between getting the ball or the terrain. They choose to recieve
The kicking team (white) and the recieving team (blue) get on the field. The white kick as far as possible and the blue catch the ball and get upfield. A impressive and loud hit stops the ball carrier a white collided with him. The action stops at this time and at that location.
The offense of the blue now gets the stage and the defense of the white do the same. The players gather (in a huddle) to
decide what will be the strategy. The Quarterback announces to the team the chosen strategy.
He uses name of formation and codes
For example: Right Stack Counter 8 Speed
The huddle takes about 10 seconds, and then the players get in position
Each player knows what to do and where to go. The captain shouts: "Red 21, Red 21, Set, Hut, Hut" and the 11 players explode of speed and execute their role. the allowed to gain 8 yards. That puts the team at 2nd and 2. The next play is already decided by the coach who transmits it to the QB. 10 seconds later the action explodes again, this time it is a gain of 45 yards and allows the team to reach the 7 yards line of the opponent team! A huddle allows the team to discover the next play. A run is called for. The players get in position: "Blue 18, Blue 18, Set, Hut" shouts the Quarterback, a man on the line of scrimmage (center) snaps the ball to the QB, the QB hands it off to the Running back , all the offensive players attempt to protect the RB from the defensive players. 7 yards later, it is the touchdown! (TD)
Now comes the moment for the PAT (Point after touchdown). The coach of the blue decides to choose the 1 point conversion (kick). The kicking team enters and excecutes the play perfectly.
The Blue team now has to kick off the ball. Their kicking team enters the field and the white team sends their receiving corp. The ball is placed on the 35 yard line of the blue side. The kicker kicks the ball as far as possible. It falls down on the white 10 yard line. A white player is there to catch it. He starts he run towards the blue camp, his teammates help him by blocking using their muscled bodies the opponent players. Finally, the ball carrier or kick returner is tackled on the 31 yard of the white team. It is at this location that the ball will be set in play. The special teams get out of the field and leave the scene for the offense (White) and defense (Blue)
1st down and 10 on the 31 white
The white have 4 downs to for 10 yards. First attempt, the QB hands off the ball to his Running Back and the play produces a gain of 4 yards
2nd and 6 on 35 (white)
A pass play is decided, the QB keeps the ball and waits that one of his receivers (WR) get open to throw him the ball. A WR is open on the right and the QB does not miss him. Gain of 13 yards! Excellent it is a first down!
1st and 10 on 48 (White)
Another pass play is called, the QB waits for the play to develop, a long pass is developing in front of him and does not hesitate. Gain of 34 yards. Beginning of game very impressive for the white! FIRST DOWN!
1st and 10 on 18 (BLUE)
A running game in the middle is called. The Running Back gets the ball from the QB and plunges through the mass of bodies either trying to give him space to run or trying to stop him depending on what team the player is playing for. Gain of 8 yards
2nd and 2 on 10 (BLUE)
A passing play now. The QB waits, surrounded by his teammates of the line (offensive line) that are protecting him, he does not see anything yet but he has enough experience and forces a pas to his best receiver. The blue team knows that he is good so on this particular play he is covered by two defenders (they disguised it well) The ball is thown, ahh unfortunately! The second defender is really quick and catches the ball! It is an INTERCEPTION! At this moment the defense becomes offense and vice versa. The corner back gets back running toward the opposing field but does not gain many yards. The white offense and the blue defense get out and the blue offense and white defense get in
1st and 10 on 14 (Blue)
The blue stroll coming back from the huddle and each player know what will be happening, in theory. The QB get just behind the center and announces: red 34, he looks at the location of the safeties. He see them placed on the right... red 34 he continues to look at the composition of the defense ignoring the threat and the bad look that the defender give him. It is obvious that the defense will try to anticipate an play on the right. Too bad, it is exactly the direction that was planned. The offense has choices: Continue the game and have a high probability that the play will fail or even worse be intercepted. Therefore the QB continues with Black 41 black 41 (Black announces to the team that he is changing the play, 41 announce what is the new game chosen) this example is a reverse. Knowing that the defense is guessing a play to the right, this play will start on the right but a player after a hesitation move will run to the left. The QB hands off to the RB and run to the right, crosses paths with that faking player and hand off the ball to him who then will run to the left. The play stars on the right and attempts to take the defense off guard.
Black 41.. set… hut hut… The ball is snapped, the players head to the right, the defense already laughs knowing that the offense is getting in a trap, the WR that runs to the left suddenly sees a linebacker of the defense just in front of him who stayed at his spot and the receiver WR attempts a little dance to shake off the LB but the LB just drills him down to the ground for a loss of 3 yards
2nd and 13 on 11 (blue)
The coaches already think about the next strategy to be used. Either try to cover the 13 yards on one try of get them in 2 down? The decision is taken; it is given to the QB who then announces it to the players. It will be a screen. This is a very useful game because it is a pass that is quite sure and short to a running back who gets it behind the line of scrimmage (Most of the gain is done by slaloming through the defense with the help of a few bodyguards from the offensive line). The team is in poistion, red 43, red 43… the defense is ready, the QB looks at the configuration that the Defense gives him nothing special to notice Black 12 (black the play is changed, 12 says that in fact no it is not changed, the game will stay what was called in the huddle it is simply to keep the defense off guard and not let them guess what codes the QB tells to his team. set, hut hut hut. The quarter back gets back, 2 offensive line men let the first line of defense go through who then just can't wait to go tackle the QB. The QB waits waits... the right moment is now and just as the defender is about to tackle him, he throws that little pass to the running back who is between the 1st and 2nd line of defense. he catches the ball, the offensive line men open up the path using their big body frame through the linebackers, everything works well and a very big gain is shaping up, the RB does a little dance to the safety who misses the tackle and there it is! The RB who passed through the 3 lines of defense, his acceleration is on high and he suddenly is at full speed but is caught after his very long gain. 30 yards! FIRST DOWN !
1st and 10 on 41 (camp bleu)
The blue team is overwhelmed with joy by this feat but there is still a long way to go to get points out of this. The choice of the strategy is chosen and it will be a run. A bluecollar 23 speed. This type of run can be called often (2 is the code of the ball carrier and 3 is the code of the whole where he should go through) So the RB will be launched to the left in the whole 3. The wholes are the spaces between the offensive line players. We have Left Tackle, Left Guard, Center, Right Guard, Right Tackle and the holes are often coded this way: 5 LT 3 LG 1 C 2 RG 4 RT 6
As you could guess it will be a RB running in the space between the Left Tackle et le Left Guard.
Everyone gets ready, and the ball is snapped and the QB hurries to hand off the ball to the RB to allow the RB to see the field, he reads the action and hesitates a tenth of second to let this hole open up. The offensive line did its job it is getting open, the tackle and the guard shoveled some guys around, the RB accelerate and gets ready for a big collision and.... booom !! He stays low and does not stop moving his legs and does a 360 his opponent lets go and the RB cam continue for 3 more yards. These 3 yards are precious. In total he got 4 yards Bravo! If the team can get 4 yards at each play then it would be unstoppable!
2nd and 6 on 45 (blue)
In the previous play, the QB and WR noticed that a Corner Back (CB) tries to cheat and gets too close to the WR. He is dying to do an interception. The QB keeps an eye on him. This continues on this play the CB again is quite aggressive. A simple hand signal to his WR, the message is given, there will be a fake of a short pass to make the CB think that he will be covered of glory when he will intercept easily and in fact it will be a long pass for the WR.
The teams are let go, and the fake, the CB is getting his eyes as big as possible seeing that short pass happening, he jumps but he is burned as the WR has already accelerated, the QB does the long pass for an easy TD. OOPs wait it is not over, the ball is in the air but it seems that the defense had a trick again for the offense because the Free Safety (FS) was on 2nd cover so the WR is not so open and now both the FS and the WR are running side by side… The ball continues its way to the unknown, the whole stadium gets on its feet, who will come up victorious of this speed and agility contest, the ball gets down to its destiny and the blue WR and the White DB are at full speed and both jump (the DB makes sure to not put his hands on the WR because that would be a penalty) the tenths of seconds are long and everything gets slow just like art in motion the WR puts his hands on the ball, the white DB is too short and the WR who could jump higher and keep his concentration gets back on the ground and gets up in that dust cloud with the ball in his hands! He looks up and everyone cheers, he is in the endzone.... TOUCHDOWN!!
Ok I guess that you imagine the well now... I will stop the description of the game here.
